This morning I realized someone had sent an email concerning Pulpit Pages through the contact form. It was from a lady who expressed her deep concern for my genuine intentions with this site. She claimed they had just left a church because her pastor was plagiarizing the material of others. I was accused of aiding such activity. She even implied that likely the desire for this site was my own personal gain and recognition rather than the glory of God. (It's always interesting when folks are bold enough to send great criticism, without supplying a valid email address so we can discuss this issue: [email protected].)
I was admonished to do some "deep soul searching" as to whether Pulpit Pages was pleasing to the Lord. I am well aware of the issue of plagiarism and the damage it causes. I encourage others to use Pulpit Pages only as a source of inspiration rather then a "go-to" source for sermons. It is not my desire to promote laziness among those who preach the Word of God. However, I too have been helped by reading the thoughts of another. I don't know of any preacher who is worth his salt that doesn't read after other preachers. (It is also interesting how those who have never preached or pastored seem to know the best approach for ministry.)
I hesitate to share this information because I know some might view it as gloating, but I felt I must at this point. Pulpit Pages went online in November 2011. Since that time we have had visits from 149 countries outside the United States, as well as visits from all 50 states within the U.S. I regularly have visits from the Philippines, several nations in Africa, Australia, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, and many others. There have also been visits from Russia and China. Many of these nations have a heavy Muslim presence or strongly hinder any Christian influence, and through Pulpit Pages the Lord has opened a door for the Gospel to penetrate darkness. I have received many emails from here at home and abroad from pastors and laypeople alike who have been enriched spiritually from the content here.
It is not my desire or intention to promote laziness or create difficulty within local congregations. I simply desire to share the Gospel with those who need to hear and this has proven an effective way to do that. I refuse to allow the deeds or condemnation of a few to hinder what I believe the Lord has called me to do.
I was asked to seriously consider removing the site and no longer post my material. I can tell you that I do not intend to do that! If I can reach one person through the efforts here, it will be worth it all.
